Joanna Hagen visited the University of Pittsburgh Ophthalmology Department last week for a job talk.  I’ve been following her work for a while along with all of the other work in the Johnston lab, and had seen her talk before as recently as May at this year’s ARVO.  I’ve been frustrated with the retinal organoid field as they’ve been intensely focused upon photoreceptors when there is a whole world of compute down below them to explore.  Joanna is interested in that as well as some other areas, and I cannot wait to see where her science takes her.
