A couple of weeks ago I visited Toronto, Canada for the first time for a Fighting Blindness Canada study section. It was a super fast trip, but we got to review some amazing grants written by truly impressive early career scientists.  My thanks to Michel Cayouette @MichelCayouette for organizing the study section and inviting an incredible group of internationally ranked scientists to review and score the grants.

I wish I had more time to walk around Toronto. I had a chance to walk with Seth Blackshaw after the last session, and ran over to the Royal Museum the morning before I left, but it left me wanting more. Toronto has an amazing feel with low friction multiculturalism that I think, was the most comfortable I’ve ever felt in a major multi-ethnic city anywhere I’ve yet visited on Earth.

The only downside to this trip was that I found out on leaving that my dear friend Duncan was also in town and we missed each other. Will have to fix that oversight at some point…
