On Election Day in 2016, I wrote about my concern for the partisan nature of politics. We knew it was bad then, and yet we had no idea of how bad it would become under the most dangerous President in perhaps, America’s history. The day after the election in 2016, I knew that we, as a country, had made a grievous mistake. History documents that fear was correct as our economy fell into a hole, we completely flubbed our response to a global pandemic, where so many people died. We had an insurrection at the US Capitol. We withdrew from international agreements, and threatened our standing in NATO. Embraced authoritarians around the world and increased corruption in our government. And fundamentally changed the Supreme Court which led to the loss of fundamental protections for healthcare and personal rights, despite the then candidates testimony before Congress that they believed the law to be already decided.
