This image is from an installation of the artist Ron Mueck from a visit I made to Melbourne a few years ago, and on this Dia de los Muertos 2024 as we emerge from the COVID pandemic, it seemed an appropriate image to remember those who died over the past few years from the COVID pandemic. It’s wild that so many already seem to have forgotten the fear and chaos of that event. I waded into the middle of it scientifically in support of my institution and photographically because I wanted to ensure that those events and the people who lost their lives were not forgotten.
