This is a view out of my kitchen window on a cold, wet, dreary post Christmas day. I am behind on everything photographically related, and am hoping to use this holiday week to catch up on post-dated entries from events and photographs that I owe folks. My sincere apologies for that tardiness. Work related demands that I am still behind on as well have been occupying most of my time as the lab is still not completely set up. We are still awaiting engineering and permits to install the electron microscope, and Becca and I will have to schedule a visit to JEOL to check out the new 120i so we can get that purchased as well. Servers are still in process, months later… But there is hope that we can get them up and running on the Pitt network very soon.
Everything with the home is pretty much handled except for a couch that will hopefully be here in the next week or so, and a microwave oven that failed two days ago. I’m trying to get a replacement, but the economy seems to be flashing warning signs of product availability and things given the tariffs and mishandling of trade by this administration. I’m being told that a standard microwave that fits this space may take 3-4 weeks to take delivery of.
I’ll have more to say in my traditional year-end post on all of this and more, along with my best photographs of the year which might be thin given how things have gone in 2025.
