January 1st, 2026. The last year, 2025 was so brutally hard for so many reasons… So much lost. So much change. So many emotions to deal with.
I spent the morning going back through 32 years of photographs with Hilari, and I am simultaneously so grateful for all of the images with her that document our time together, and so angry that I cannot make any more memories with her. I am also hurt at all the images which represent what has been lost to me, to family, to friends, to the wider world that Hilari helped make a better place. January 1st was a day that the two of us would start with coffee and conversation. I tried doing that today with Alice in our new home.
All I can do is go forward, and am grateful to be sitting here quietly with Alice Jones in the afternoon hours of the first day of 2026, with her as my fuzzy companion as this journey continues on.
