I had the chance to run down to Mexico City for an insanely quick meeting trip, and to partake in seeing some Mexico City sites with friends (Jeff, Fatima @fim.bsky.social, and Steven) while getting some big pharma questions answered, and to go out and eat perhaps one of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life at Quintonil. I also had a chance to spend an afternoon spent out at Teotihuacan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site which was pretty cool.
I have many questions about Mexico City after having not been here for ~35 years. It’s waaaaaay cleaner than it was back then and there are a ton of electric Chinese cars from BYD on the road which we do not get in America. Their economy is also still substantially petroleum based and I do not understand how folks are making ends meet with the price of gasoline. But there is an excitement here certainly in the culinary space, but also in education and the arts. I totally need to get back down here again to spend some time in museums and have an event here in Mexico City scheduled for early next year. So, I will totally be back.
Update 04/20/26: Unfortunately 10 days after we visited Teotihuacan, there was a shooting there.
